Have you ever thought; Won’t we be bored after 10,000 years in Heaven?

If we have a flawed opinion of GOD, we can easily assume eternity will be filled with religious activities. In other words, it’s difficult to get excited about eternity because we think GOD will transform us all into glorified monks who spend their days digesting religious books and humming Gregorian chants.

GOD is the creator of passion, recreation, fun, art, food, sport, reading, studying, relationships, discovery. All of those things, and more, will be present in eternity. The Bible says;

Then your heart will throb and swell with joy.. Isaiah 60:5

Imagine GOD assigning you to a team of explorers who travel, discover, catalog, map, and name, all of the stars and planets in a particular galaxy—billions of stars and planets. Did you know there are far more galaxies in the universe than all of the people who have ever lived on Earth? We can only try to comprehend the size of our current universe with all its diversity, galaxies, stars and planets.

But what about the new Universe that Jesus will create and hand over to us? In eternity, Jesus could easily give every believer a galaxy to manage in their “spare” time. It would be a tall order and a massive responsibility. My point—I’m proclaiming how big our GOD is. He will give us small responsibilities and massive responsibilities. All of them will be a great joy—without the toil. The assignments will be perfectly suited for you, almost like you were made for the job—wait– you were!

We will still celebrate special occasions and have days of remembrance for people and Jesus—we will always remember what He has done for us. Musicians will write and play music, and design instruments unto their imagination, Artists will create art and frame landscapes untold. Engineers will engineer the seemingly impossible, gardeners will tend gardens, designers will design, researchers will research, scientists will pursue science. Writers will write and publish their books into the greatest library imaginable. Mathematicians will calculate GOD’s new creation.  In eternity, saints will still cook and serve food for themselves and others. All of the best cuisines from Earth’s cultures will continue to be refined and served during our glorious fellowship. If we didn’t do those things, then the power and greatness of everything under heaven has not been handed over to us.

“But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever. Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be handed over to the holy people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.” Daniel 7:26-27 NIV

Saints will take all of that greatness, all of that power, and worship the King of Kings with it. All of GOD’s new creation will only be used for good. Nothing will be twisted or used for evil.

Just like the beginning of mans history when the Lord told Adam and Eve to take care of the Garden of Eden, one day, He will cut us loose with more freedom and abilities than we’ve ever had before and position us to take care of His kingdom.

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:23 NIV

Reflection

And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, with each gate consisting of a single pearl. The main street of the city was pure gold, as clear as glass.

But I saw no temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.  And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, because the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its lamp.  By its light the nations will walk, and into it the kings of the earth will bring their glory. Its gates will never be shut at the end of the day, because there will be no night there. Revelation 21:21-25 NIV

Since there is no temple in the New Jerusalem, how will you worship GOD in eternity? How can you worship GOD today?
