How can we be excited about Heaven if the Bible tells us, “no eye has seen” where we’re going?
“However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” — the things God has prepared for those who love him—” NIV
Many students of the Bible have misapplied this verse resulting in confusion and a loss of joy. The context of this verse is not Heaven. This verse makes no sense if you try to apply it to the topic of Heaven. “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard...” Let’s think for minute, how many people saw and heard things in Heaven and were told by GOD to testify? At least, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Zechariah, Micaiah, Daniel, John, Paul; you could also include Jesus in that group.
John wrote a whole book about what he saw and heard in Heaven. Of course, we don’t understand everything about Heaven. We can’t fully grasp the depth of; “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” But, the Bible gives us enough knowledge unto salvation and life changing joy. We can learn some epic truths about Heaven because people saw into that realm.
- Heaven and angels are awesome to behold! In the Bible, people who saw into Heaven or saw an angel fell down in awe and wonder. In other words, the first time you see the wonder of Heaven, your legs will give out! Ezekiel 1:28, Daniel 8:17, Revelation 22:8,
- There is a city that is 1500 miles long, wide and tall! Revelation 21:10-17.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:1-2 NIV
Everything that plagues you today, will be absent in eternity. Take some time to imagine what life without pain, sadness and fear will be like—it’s ointment for the soul. Selah!
